The Sturgis Rally; Great Fun for the Motorcycle Lover

If you are a biker and you’re looking for a great way to motorcycles, what better way than to attend the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota? The rally, which happens every year in August, is a huge event where the whole town plays host to bikers from around the nation. The event originated in 1938 and was originally called the Blackhills Classic as a one-race rally. These days, the event attracts hundreds of thousands of bikers and motorcycle lovers and is really an amazing place for motorcycle lovers.

Hundreds of vendors attend the city-wide rally, with events spread throughout the businesses in and around the town. Eat and drink, ride, shop, and watch the shows and races all right there in the town. Start your day right with a hardy breakfast in one of the many breakfast events, eat at one of the many businesses, bars, or vendors. Then enjoy one of the many different races and rallies. There are mud races, short track races, motocross, and memorial races, as well as hill climbs of course as the area is famous for its Black Hills.

If you would rather ride than watch, then try a ride for fun or for a good cause. There are memorial events such as the a ride for homeless veterans, and rides for cancer awareness and the local volunteer fire department to name a few. Then settle in for crazy contests and shows including comedy shows, the Miss Buffalo Chip Beauty Pageant, burnout contests, and even a beer belly contest. Speaking of beer, be sure not to miss the Miller and Coors casino night. There are also a number of events put on by Jack Daniels at the Jack Daniels experience. And while you’re enjoying the wonderful people watching and looking at great bikes, listen to great music including local talents, cover bands, as well as nationally known acts like Leon Russel, George Thorogood, Joe Santana, and the great fun of the Jeff Bridges and Friends show featuring John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks.
